I am new to GitHub and repositories in general. I created a repository and have been updating the files intermittently. The last time I tried something didn't seem to be working with the commit and I fiddled around in GitHub Desktop. I clicked on 'Branches' and 'Master; and it now appears that I pulled the whole Master branch into my local repo. That master was last updated 6 weeks ago.
I am asking if this is actually what (could have) happened. There was no warning but all of a sudden my local files are no longer the most recent version.
Before I start panicking (ok, too late), if this is indeed what happened, have I lost my most recent files or is there a way to revert back to what I had locally?
Something else may have happened that I am not aware of but I think this is what happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am looking at having lost 6 weeks worth of coding. (And yes, I do understand I did not follow all proper procedures to safeguard my code from an event such as this).
