python - Identify if a name is in a list

Question

mens_name = ['Bob', 'Frank', 'John', 'Rob', 'Eric', 'Dan', 'Doug']
current_name = raw_input('Please enter a name: ')
if current_name == mens_name[0 or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7] or mens_name[0].upper():
    print 'I know that name.
'

is there an easier way of doing this, or do I have put all of those or's?

Use in keyword:

if current_name in mens_name:
